Just added a new video to the course showing you the biomechanical backhand recorded from multiple camera angles and with key checkpoints to help you practice in the right way.

    Hey Tomas,
I tried opening the video on two different devices, and it shows me both times the “Biomechanical forehand (not backhand)” video here.
    Thanks, Sebastian

In forehand, we swing our arms by our shoulder axis which are muscles around our spine, yes?

Does it work similar in number 8 swing in one handed backhand? We swing our arms also by these muscles around shoulder axis but then later we squeeze our shoulder blades?

And the thing with “shoulder deep” and “shoulder rotation” in one handed backhand is done by our core muscles and muscles around our spine?

To swing the arm we use shoulder joint, it’s round. We use shoulder muscles to make the arm go in loops.

To that loop we add body rotation which now creates a nr 8 swing. So we swing our arms by turning our body left and right while the arms swing around.

I would not say we use muscles around the spine although I am sure they are engaged. The body has 650 skeletal muscles or so (Google it) so to specify which muscles exactly to use is impossible.

Use legs to drive the hips and core to help turn the upper body.

We swing the arms for one-handed backhand exactly the same, they are the same stroke, just executed in the opposite direction.

And yes, we squeeze the shoulder blades towards the end of the swing, it helps with control.

Rotation of the hips and body is done again with legs, hips and core.
